Clairedelune Sock by thepetiteknitter

I got an opportunity to test knit for thepetiteknitter again.  This time was a sock pattern called Clairedelune.  This was my first hand knit sock.  Seems like socks are quite a popular knitting subject in the knitting community.  I was very hesitant to knit socks because I wear out my regular socks quite frequently.  I was very excited about the pattern so I jumped on the test knit queue without knowing it was a sock pattern.

I used Fiberstory Fave Sock Gradient Yarn Set in Squeeze.  I tried to achieve a fade effect through out the sock by switching MC and CC in different colors.  Unfortunately the contrast was so subtle that the pattern didn’t come through.

I only had time to finish one sock so far.  Aside from the lovely pattern, the best thing I learned in this pattern was the afterthought heel.  You basically knit the entire sock from cast on to before toe section in tube.  Slip in a bit of waste yarn in the heel section.  Once the sock is mostly finished, you unslip the waste yarn to open the mouth for the heel.  The rest is a just knitting in round and decreasing.

Now I just need to figure out a better color combination to show the pattern on the other half of the sock.
