Triple Triple Cable

Designing is so hard! I’m sorry I open this post with a complain. I restarted so many times. Then once it was completed, I wasn’t so satisfy with the sprinkle pink with the natural. I was hoping the natural would be more white.

I started off the front with the same number of stitches as the back. I didn’t factor in that the cable would shrink the front substantially. So I added two 10 stitches on top and bottom of the front piece.

You can see where I sew the pieces together.

BUT! I do love knitting this large woven cable. It’s so easy but looks so interesting (to me anyway).

Size: small (16″ wide, 21″ long)

Yarn: We Are Knitters Cotton (Sprinkle Pink 4 skeins and Natural 1 skein)

Needles Size: US 6/4mm

This sweater is assembled vertically. Before knitting [k1p1] rib for the bottom, pick up stitches on the long side.

The back. It looks like strawberry shortcake matrix.

Back: Cast on 85 st, knit 100 rows with reverse stockinette stitch, cast off.

Once complete the 100 rows, pick up stitches on one of the long sides and knit 5 rows of k1, p1 rib. This will be the bottom of the back. Cast off all st.

Frontcast on 104 st

With even rows: knit all purl stitches of previous odd number rows, and purl all knit stitches of previous odd number rows. Odd rows being the right side.

C8F (cable 8 front): Slip next 4 sts onto cable needle and hold at front of work, knit next 4 sts from left-hand needle, then return 4 sts to left-hand needle and knit them.

C8B (cable 8 back): slip next 4 sts onto cable needle and hold at back of work, knit next 4 sts from left-hand needle, then return 4 sts to left-hand needle and knit them.

Row 1 (RS): p14, k20, *p8, k20, repeat * one more time, p14

Row 3: p14, k4, [C8F]twice, *p8, k4, [C8F]twice, repeat * one more time, p14

Row 5: p14, k20, *p8, k20, repeat * one more time, p14

Row 7: p14, k20, *p8, k20, repeat * one more time, p14

Row 9: p14, [C8B] twice, k4, *p8, [C8B] twice, k4, repeat * one more time, p14,

Row 11: p14, k20, *p8, k20, repeat * one more time, p14

Repeat the last 12 rows till reach row 100, cast off.

Pick up stitches on one of the long sides and knit [k1,p1] rib for 5 rows. Cast off.

Sleeves:

Row 1-26: cast on 30, [k1,p1] rib

Starting row 27, knit all even rows.

Row 27: purl and evenly increase 6 st with a total of 36 st.
